Mind Map Celebrations in Wonderful Season
Today's Mind Map is from the Creative Mind Map Discipline.
The Creative Mind Map Discipline is where you are provided with a carefully selected word by the Senior Arbiter's and charged with making a Mind Map that represents, for you, the meaning and association to that word.
The selection of a word by the Senior Arbiters is our way of getting around the security issue of having competitors preparing a creative mind map in advance and spending weeks working on it.
The whole point of this discipline is to see how wonderfully creative you can be in a short time span.
This is a charming Mind Map. It has a perfectly sized Central Image. There is very clear segmentation of the branches. As you can see each branch is a completely different colour and this helps with memory and understanding as we see that similar themes are clustered together.
I would suggest that this competitor focuses on connecting their branches to the Central Image in next year's Championship. This is one of the true Mind Mapping rules as detailed by Tony Buzan and will certainly make sure that this Mind Map scores significantly higher in next year's competition.
It's little hints and tips like this that we aim to give you when looking at all of these Mind Maps so that you can continually seek to improve your confidence and competence in the technique.
I can see clearly that the words and the branches are of the same colour. This is really important according to the rules because it helps boost recall. However, the Mind Map rules state that the word should be firmly on the branch and not to the side or floating off into space.
So for next year, I suggest that this competitor focuses on getting the words onto the branch instead of being in the middle of the branches. They will also find that they have much more space available on the paper to get a greater degree of detail into next year's Championship Mind Map.
I can clearly see that this competitor understands that "a picture is worth 1000 words" the images are utterly charming.
However, I would like to have seen a little more detail on this Mind Map.
This Mind Map has piqued my curiosity!
I want to know who had the baby? I want to know whether the baby was a boy or a girl and whether everyone is ok? Who graduated? They certainly look very proud and they should be!!
Was it the competitor who graduated? If so, congratulations from us all Mind-Mapping HQ!!
Who got married? Wouldn't it have been amazing if everything that happened on this Mind Map happened to one person, although I have a feeling that this perhaps is a very proud mother looking at the achievements of their family over the span of a year!
I know as a Mum, to have a graduation, a new baby, and a wedding all in one year would make this one of the most amazing years of my life!
These Mind Maps are provided to the Arbiters anonymously. That means that we don't know who created them, in fact, we don't even know from which country the Championship Mind Maps came from.
But, if the competitor reads this, and I hope you do, I have two things to ask.
Firstly, please come and compete again next year because I think you have a wonderful visual sense and will make a fantastic Mind Mapper, and secondly to please send all our love and blessings to whoever it was in your life that graduated, had the baby and got married in 2021. XX
See you at next year's Championship.
